How our pricing works. We do not publish fixed prices, because a fixed price would either overcharge a couple or underdeliver for a group of nine. Every itinerary is quoted individually against your dates, hotel standard and group size, with everything itemised in writing. Send us your travel window and we will come back within 24 hours with a full quotation and no obligation.

D1Arrive Xi'anTransfer
Met at the airport or the high-speed rail station. Evening in the Muslim Quarter: roujiamo, yangrou paomo and hand-pulled noodles, with the whole street lit up after dark.
D2Terracotta Army and Huaqing Hot Springs≈ 90 km
We reach the pits before the coach groups, usually around 08:30, and walk them in reverse order so you meet the crowds coming the other way. Three hours underground, then the Tang-dynasty hot springs on the way back.
D3Ming city wall, Great Mosque, Bell and Drum TowersIn town
The most complete ancient city wall in China, wide enough to cycle on. Then the Great Mosque, founded in 742 AD and built like a Chinese garden, with pagoda-style minarets. Evening at the Bell and Drum Towers.
D4Shaanxi History Museum and departureTransfer
The best introduction to Chinese civilisation outside Beijing, with the Tang gold and ceramics as the highlight. Then your onward flight or high-speed rail.
Who it suits

Is this the right route for you?

Muslim families and history lovers. Xi'an has been a Hui Muslim city for 1,300 years, so halal food here is the local cuisine rather than a special arrangement. The Terracotta Army day involves about 3 km of walking, mostly indoors.

Questions

Frequently asked

Is Xi'an really good for halal food?
Xi'an has the largest historic Hui Muslim population in China, and the Muslim Quarter is entirely qingzhen. You can eat without checking labels, which is rare in China and the main reason families start their trip here. We can also add a halal cooking class or a visit to a working mosque.
How many days do we need?
Two days covers the Terracotta Army and the city wall. Three days adds the museum, the Great Mosque and a slower look at the food streets. Four days lets us add a day trip to the Han Yang Ling tomb or Hua Shan mountain.
Can we combine Xi'an with the Silk Road?
Yes. Xi'an to Dunhuang is a short flight, and we build five- to nine-day extensions through Zhangye, Jiayuguan and Dunhuang including the Mogao Caves and the Crescent Lake dunes. Ask us for the Gansu route.
How much does the tour cost?
We quote each itinerary individually. Send us your dates, group size and preferred hotel standard and we will send a full written quotation within 24 hours.
