Four nights downriver, no repacking
The Yangtze is the third-longest river in the world, and for 200 kilometres between Chongqing and Yichang it cuts through limestone gorges that have been a shipping route, a military frontier and a subject of Chinese painting for two thousand years.
A river cruise is the only comfortable way to see it. You board in Chongqing, unpack once, and wake up somewhere different for four mornings: Fengdu's ghost city, the Shennong Stream by sampan, the Xiling Gorge, and the vast Three Gorges Dam — which raised the river 100 metres and drowned two cities.
The cruise is the easiest four days in our entire programme for anyone with limited mobility, and it is the route we recommend most often to travellers who want China without the walking.
Tap any one open for the practical detail — how long to allow, and how we work it into your day.
Halal dining on an overnight cruise depends entirely on the ship, so this is one of the few places where we ask you to decide early. Several of the major Yangtze vessels can arrange halal or No-pork meals with advance notice and we will confirm in writing which ships can do it for your exact dates before you book. Chongqing itself has good halal restaurants — the city has a historic mosque and a Hui community — so we build a halal dinner in before boarding.
Each of these is a starting point. We reshape every one around your dates, your group and your pace.

Tell us your dates and who is travelling, and we will send a day-by-day Three Gorges & the Yangtze itinerary with halal dining marked, hotel options and an itemised quotation within 24 hours.
