How our pricing works. We do not publish fixed prices, because a fixed price would either overcharge a couple or underdeliver for a group of nine. Every itinerary is quoted individually against your dates, hotel standard and group size, with everything itemised in writing. Send us your travel window and we will come back within 24 hours with a full quotation and no obligation.
Day by day

The full itinerary

Tap any day to open it. Every day is adjustable — this is a starting point, not a fixed schedule.

D1Arrive Chongqing and boardTransfer
We meet you in Chongqing — a vertical metropolis of 32 million — and take you to dinner at a halal restaurant before transferring to the Chaotianmen pier. The ship slips downstream overnight.
D2Fengdu and the Qutang GorgeShore day
Optional morning shore excursion to the Ghost City, a hilltop complex of temples depicting the Chinese afterlife. In the evening the ship enters the Qutang Gorge, the narrowest and most dramatic of the three.
D3Wu Gorge and the Shennong StreamShore day
The longest and greenest gorge in the morning, then a sampan up the Shennong Stream through water so clear the riverbed is visible ten metres down. Afternoon through the Xiling Gorge toward the dam.
D4Three Gorges Dam and YichangOn board
The largest hydroelectric project on earth: 2.3 km long, 185 m high, and it raised the river by 100 metres when it filled. The five-stage ship lock is the part most people find astonishing. You disembark in Yichang in the evening.
D5Yichang and onwardTransfer
Transfer to Yichang East high-speed rail station for connections to Shanghai, Beijing or Guangzhou, or to the airport. We can add Wuhan, Zhangjiajie or Chengdu on the far side.

Questions

Frequently asked

Which direction should we cruise?
Chongqing to Yichang is downstream, slightly faster, and ends near excellent high-speed rail connections. Yichang to Chongqing is upstream and gives you an extra half day of scenery. We usually recommend downstream for a first trip.
Can we get halal meals on board?
It depends entirely on the ship. Several vessels can arrange halal or no-pork menus with advance notice; others cannot. We will tell you honestly which ships can do it for your exact dates rather than promise it and fail once you are aboard.
Is the cruise suitable for elderly travellers?
It is the best option in China for anyone with limited mobility. You unpack once, the ship does all the travelling, and the shore excursions are optional. Some involve steps — stay on board for those and you lose very little.
What cabin should we book?
Book a balcony cabin. The scenery is the whole point and a cabin without a window defeats it. On the better ships the difference between standard and deluxe is deck level and cabin size rather than the view.
